"Pathways to Discovery" Contest

Partners in Research (in conjunction with our
co-sponsors) is
pleased to hold an annual Essay Contest for the
Secondary Students* category, in the Thames Valley District
School Board and/or the Greater London Area. The theme of
the contest is “The Scientific Journey: Pathways to
Discovery” with an emphasis on the role of health research
in Canadian society.

We offer cash awards to students,
consisting of (1) Gold ($150), (1) Silver ($100) and (1)
Bronze ($50) to each grade level ranging from grades 9
through 12. A certificate of merit is also awarded for
the top essays from each grade level, as well as the
opportunity for a grand prize winner to be a “Scientist
for a Day.” This student will spend the day visiting
research laboratories, and having lunch with a Canadian
scientist. The winner may also be eligible to appear on
the annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, which
airs on television on The New PL television network
serving Southwestern Ontario.
The adjudication process is coordinated
by Partners in Research. The contest will be held again in fall of 2006. For
