Animals Helping Animals

Contents

The Partners in Research Grade School Curriculum is an exploration into medical and veterinary research.

Animals Helping Animals was developed by Partners in Research to provide information to elementary school students (grades 3-5) and teachers about the care of pets and the importance of veterinary medicine. Each story focuses on an animal that has proved essential to the understanding of health issues of both humans and animals, and includes dogs, cats, rabbits, and cows.

Animals Helping Animals is an educational tool designed to provide information about veterinary and biomedical research, in both historical and contemporary contexts. We hope that it will be used as a source of facts, and as a springboard for further inquiry into proper pet care and the importance and methods of scientific discovery.

The goals of Animals Helping Animals are to stimulate interest, knowledge and understanding of scientific discovery through interesting and fun stories and activities. Material in this package may be photocopied so each student has their own copy. The stories promote reading comprehension and accompanying activities promote understanding of each story topic.
